» Steven Pressfield
Just today heard that in addition to his novel on the Battle of Thermopylae (rumored to be moving to film), called Gates of Fire, Steven Pressfield has written a novel on Alcibides (Tides of War), the charismatic, extravagant Athenian general of the Peloponnesian War. Curious I googled him and found his website with other interesting novels about ancient Greece: most recently on Alexander the Great and the myth of Athens' war with the Amazons.
Evidently, he writes well, in a compelling way. And, I have it from a good authority that, as far as Alcibides goes, he is accurate. Also interesting to note, that all Pressfield's Greek novels have been #1 bestsellers in Greece.
But I say, it's all in Thucydides and Herodotus.
